The cutest moment happened the other day while we were wrapping Christmas gifts at LifeWay Christian Bookstore…

Two little girls all dressed in pink, each with a dollar to put in our donation box,  asked “Is this like a magical workshop?”

Awww. How do you answer that?

Us: “Well, it’s a gift wrapping workshop, and some of the packages look so pretty with lights shining on them that it might look magical.”

Girls: “Oh, well that guy said you wrapped a present and it was magical, what happened with the paper and ribbon.”

Us: “Oh, Wow!”

Girls: “You’re an elf. Right?” We weren’t sure until we talked to you because you didn’t have on an elf suit, but you are wearing a green shirt.”

Is Christmas magical?

Magical – an adjective – Relating to or resembling magic. Beautiful or delightful in such a way as to seem removed from everyday life. Extraordinary – Remarkable – Exceptional – Outstanding – Incredible

Does Christmas resemble magic?

The wonder in a child’s eye as she sees ordinary houses turned into beautiful shining, sparkling, glowing, works of art created from light.

The Awe we all feel as we re-read those extraordinary words; “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11 – The words that have led so many to the Light.

The childhood mystery of how all those beautifully wrapped packages, with shiny bows and glimmering paper, appear under the tree on Christmas morning. The light shining bright in the branches above them.

What do you think? Is Christmas magical?

Remove yourself from everyday life this week. Enjoy the holiday and let the child in you feel the magical moments of the season.

We wish you all wonder, awe, mystery, and Light as you bid the old year goodbye and move into the new.
